HPX – Berwick – Charlottetown

Tomorrow morning we leave for a quick sprint in the van..

Thursday, October 22nd at the Company House for Halifax Pop Explosion (10pm). We’re all excited to hear a bunch of new music, and catch some bands we love (Braids, The Weather Station, Mauno, etc).

Saturday, October 24th Steve (solo) joins Peter Katz in Berwick, NS at Union Street Cafe, as part of the “We Are the Reckoning” release tour.

Sunday, October 25th in Charlottetown, PEI for an early show at Marc’s Lounge (8pm).

Hope to see you on the road.

Welcome Back!

In the everyday chaos of things, I’ve neglected these posts/updates!

How are you? How have you been?

We had a busy summer. With a tour across eastern Canada, and a trip around our home province of Newfoundland, the downtime was brief. Highlights include, introducing Alex Bridger to the group, playing at the legendary Horseshoe, a beautiful meeting with Rimouski, Quebec, catching our friends in By Divine Right, playing a lot of Sevens in/outside of the van, hanging with our hometown brothers Rube and Rake, and Green & Gold, a welcome home show at the LSPU Hall with visuals from the road and beyond, and more and more and more.

Upon returning home we were lucky enough to land an opening slot at the Harbourage Music fest here in St. John’s, warming the stage for Bahamas, Dan Mangan, and Rich Aucoin with hometown buds Jonny and the Cowabungas, and Green & Gold.  Thanks to all involved for having us. It was a great way to end the season.

Now that the brief warmth of summer is fading, and our schedule is opening up, talks of recording are becoming more audible. No word on how or when, but we will keep you up to date, here and elsewhere (promise). Until then, there are a few solo shows taking place (see the “Shows” page), and a stop at Halifax Pop Explosion.

Hope all is well. More updates/posts to come.

Talk soon,

SM

On the Road Again

Another winter has come and gone. The cold and the snow have left, revealing cigarette butts and forgotten treasures or trash. It’s time to leave again. As the spring rolls over to summer, we’ll be hitting the road to southern Ontario, and back again. Followed by a busy August at home in Newfoundland. The Canadian tour will see us morph into a 4-piece group, while the home dates are with the full band of 6. There are also some solo dates involved for good measure. Our complete summer schedule is below. Hope to see you in the sun.

xo,

Steve

Well, hello there!

SMWK

Take a look around, things have been changing.

We’ve added more content to the site, including media, lyrics, tour dates and more. Thanks to our own Josh Bourden for making this happen. It’s been a busy time in our camp. We’ve been picking away at some new material, re-locating to a new rehearsal space, and the touring unit just recently returned from a shoot in Barbados. I’m also happy to announce that our debut record is almost fully sold out of it’s first pressing (more coming). When we started this thing I wasn’t sure if anyone would care. The response has been overwhelming, both locally and elsewhere. Thanks for the love. We’ll be  sure to send it back.

There have been whispers of recording. Faint, slightly inaudible whispers, but whispers none the less. When the material is ready we’ll dive into the process. I think we’re all looking forward to it. There seems to be a slightly new direction coming, and we’re gladly embracing it. We hope you will too. Until then, this is the hub where you’ll find all things Wandering Kind related. We’re also trying to up our social media game, so keep in touch via Facebook, Twitter, and the like. Beautifully busy times ahead. Wouldn’t have it any other way.
